Subject: Leadership Transition

Henry Ford Academy: Elementary School Families:

Beginning in July 2014, Dr. Curtis Lewis will make an important transition as he steps into the role as Principal of Henry Ford Academy: School for Creative Studies, our aligned middle/high school.

It is with mixed emotions that we make this change, as we know how much you value the leadership Dr. Lewis has provided at Henry Ford Academy: Elementary School. He has done an outstanding job of recruiting and developing a staff that is dedicated to the academic achievement and personal development of our scholars. While we know Dr. Lewis will be missed, the returning staff has tremendous ability to continue down the pathway they have created together, building upon the strong culture and academic results created over the last two years.

The governing boards of Henry Ford Academy: Elementary School are 100% committed to hiring a strong leader with the experience, expertise and drive to achieve the best for your children. Steps are already underway to identify a new Principal. Once she/he is hired, we will host a special opportunity for you to meet the new school leader.

Dr. Lewis is excited about his new role, and while we know that the elementary school family will miss him, there is a great opportunity to reconnect with him when your child steps up to Henry Ford Academy: School for Creative Studies Middle School.

If you have questions about Henry Ford Academy: Elementary School’s leadership transition, please contact Ms. Nan Gill, HFLI’s Director of Education and our District’s Acting Superintendent at ngill@hfli.org or (313) 695-1723.

Sincerely,

Deborah Parizek

Executive Director
